This platform includes stand-alone websites, sophisticated web-services, and custom analytics. The first to provide dose-specific price comparisons for branded, generic and therapeutic equivalents of prescription drugs, DestinationRx’s Drug Compare products have become the standard in the industry. Typical clients include PBMs, payors, EMR and ePrescribing vendors, pharmacies, benefit consultants, and data vendors. Many of these clients use Drug Compare to enable members to find lower cost alternative options for drugs that they currently take, or are planning to take.

Drug Compare is used by our clients for four key reasons: cost, generic fill rate, adherence, and member engagements. By proposing lower cost alternatives, members and plans both can significantly reduce their cost of purchasing drugs, in many cases by as much as 50 percent or more, depending on the drug. One way in which these savings are accomplished is by switching to generics, which also increases the generic fill rate – a key metric for many of our clients. Several studies have indicated that adherence to prescribed drug regimens is impacted by drug costs, which can lead to increased medical costs when the conditions maintained by the drug treatment worsen. Drug Compare products are made up of three components:

This mapping is updated continuously and is based on an ongoing review and analysis of published comparative effectiveness research. A team of pharmacists and physicians perform these reviews that map different drugs to each other in a dose-specific way. Drug Compare covers more than 90 drug equivalency classes (each at multiple dose levels), such as Statins, PPIs etc. It is the oldest, most comprehensive, and most widely used set of therapeutically equivalent mappings available. An advanced database that represents the clinical content described above and links it with data about formularies, providers, pricing, drug claims, drug descriptions, and interactions. These linkages allow Drug Compare to suggest lower cost-alternatives that are specific to an individual’s circumstances, including plan formularies and designs. A proprietary interface that allows end-users access to the data. Presently there are three types of interfaces, providing maximum flexibility to our clients. A full-service stand-alone website makes Drug Compare content available through an award-winning platform that allows users to enter their details, including their current drugs, and returns lower cost alternatives, based on plan, PBM or retail pricing. A web-service allows clients to power their own applications by providing all the same drug content while enabling clients maximum flexibility in how they use the data.
